Privacy policy

YourTaskBuddy helps you get everyday work done. This page explains what we keep, why we keep it, who helps us run the service, and what you can ask us to do. YourTaskBuddy runs yourtaskbuddy.com.

What we keep

• Your account: your email address and the name you give us, so you can sign in.
• Your work: the tasks you write, files you attach, what Buddy makes for you, your conversations with Buddy about a task, and the record of what happened (the Proof tab).
• Your settings: your name, time zone, writing style, theme and monthly budget.
• Usage and cost: how many tasks you create and an estimate of what each AI run cost, so we can show your budget and keep plans fair.
• Payments: if you upgrade, Paystack handles the payment. We receive your plan, the amount, a payment reference and a customer code. We never see or store your card or mobile money details.

Google data

Connecting Google is optional, and each permission is asked for only when you first use the feature that needs it:

• Google Drive (only files you pick): to read a file you choose for a task. Buddy cannot see the rest of your Drive.
• Calendar free/busy: to see when you are busy, so plans and meetings fit your day. Google shares busy times only, never event names or details.
• Send email (Gmail): to send an email you have approved, from your own Gmail. Buddy cannot read your inbox.
• Calendar events: to add an event you have approved to your calendar and invite the guests you named.

Nothing is sent or added to your calendar until you approve that exact version. Google access tokens are encrypted before we store them, and you can disconnect Google at any time in Connections, which deletes them.

YourTaskBuddy's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google data for advertising, we do not sell it, we do not use it to train AI models, and people do not read it unless you ask us to (for example for support), it is needed for security, or the law requires it.

How AI is used

To do a task, Buddy sends the task, any file or Google data you attached to it, and your writing style to Anthropic's Claude AI. Anthropic processes it under its commercial terms, which do not allow it to train its models on this data. Research tasks also search the public web.

Who helps us run YourTaskBuddy

• Supabase: our database and sign-in.
• Railway: where the app runs.
• Cloudflare: our domain and protection from attacks.
• Anthropic: the AI that does the work.
• Resend: sign-in and service emails.
• Paystack: payments, if you upgrade.
• Google: only if you connect it, as described above.

They receive only what they need to do their part. We do not sell your information or share it for advertising.

Cookies

We use cookies only to keep you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

Your work stays until you delete it or close your account. Payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Your choices and rights

You can see, correct, export or delete your information, and you can object to how it is used. Under Kenya's Data Protection Act 2019, and the GDPR where it applies, you can also complain to a data protection authority. To close your account and delete your data, write to hello@yourtaskbuddy.com; we reply within 30 days.

Children

YourTaskBuddy is for people aged 18 and over.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and, for important changes, tell you in the app before they apply.
